7 Questions to Ask Yourself To Improve Your Green Marketing Sales Next Year Year

December 2nd, 2015 No comments

Is It Time To Re-Visit Your Green Marketing Plans for 2016?

Green Marketing Goals

Austin, Texas: As the year quickly comes to an end, it is a great time to  review your green marketing goals .and to see how close you were to your objectives.

Too often we just roll from one year to the next without taking the time to see what we had done correctly and what needs improving.

I like to go to a Starbucks or other location and bring an old school bound journal and sit, think and review for about an hour or so…and just think and write.

I like to think about my vision and write down some key thoughts and ideas.  Then I break them down to see the best ways to reach each of those goals.

Here are 7 questions to ask yourself to plan for a successful new year of green marketing:

1) What was your top green marketing goal last year? Did you meet it?  Did you even have one?

2) What can you do to improve your outreach for next year?  How will you go about achieving that goal?

3) What is your top priority for next year in terms of sales? What steps are needed to reach that goal?

4) What was your biggest disappointment of this year? Why? What could you have done differently?

5) If money wasn’t an object, what would you change about your business? How would that change things?

6)If the economy slows down next year, how will you adjust your marketing strategies?  What can you do to pre-empt a downturn from affecting you?

7) How many podcasts and/or speeches have you given on the benefits of going green?  If green is your mission, then outreach is crucial in both spreading the gospel and in promoting your brand. How can you do a better job in communicating the importance of going green or about the dangers of climate change?

You can come up with others.

Just think about your green marketing vision, plans, goals — and start writing.

No erasers.

One thought per page.

And just keep writing until you cannot think any longer.

It is a fun and very useful activity and it should work well for you.

Let me know how you do next year.  I’d love to know if you’ve reached or exceeded your goals.

Happy New year and Happy Promoting!

Are Your Promoting Your Mission With Your Promotional Products?

May 7th, 2015 No comments

Do Your Promotional Products and Advertising Campaigns Describe and Promote Your Social Mission?

Mission-Statement

Austin, Texas: Many of us have participated in Earth Day events to promote our brands with green promotional product.

Others use trade shows to promote their message.

If you are a green business, your target audience wants more information about your mission.

They need to be reassured about how you are green, your sourcing methods, your mission, etc.

Too many companies just assume that because they have the word “green” or “organic” or “eco” in their names, that their customers will understand and “get it”.

However, you are doing a disservice by not explaining your mission on every transaction.

In your signage.

In your ads.

In your promotional products.

Yes, a simple mission statement on the backs of your imprinted water bottles or a url that links to your mission statement on your website will be most beneficial in reinforcing or reminding your customers of why they buy from you (or should buy from you).

Present clients like to be reminded of why they buy from you. It makes them feel better and smarter about themselves.

But you need to keep reinforcing your green message over and over again so it sinks in.

Just handing out a recycled water bottle or recycled frisbee with your logo on it is not enough. Be sure your mission statement is prominent EVERYWHERE.

Reinforcement of your message is crucial.

People are busy.

They forget.

Remind them why your company is the smart green option for them.

Remind them of your vision. Your vision for the future probably is the same as your customers’ vision.

Make them feel good that they are supporting your business or organization.

Your green mission statement is probably what won them over in the first place.

Keep it fresh in their minds all the time.

Don’t assume they will remember your mission

Happy Promoting!

What is Your Definition of Green Promotional Products?

January 23rd, 2015 1 comment

Expanding the Reach of Green Promotional Products and Marketing

defining green promotional productsAustin, Texas: How narrowly do you define the term: “green promotional products”?

For some, it means only promotional products made from organic materials.

For some it may mean only recycled promotional products.

Still, others take into account that green promotional products must be reusable or that it reduces waste–such as reusable tote bags and imprinted water bottles.

Many are adding into the scope of green promotional products such tech items as rechargeable phone power chargers (both solar powered power chargers and plug in power chargers) –as they help to prolong the need for throw-away external batteries.

The key is to define what you consider to be green promotional products–or eco-friendly promotional products and to re-evaluate your parameters from time to time.

I had a Fortune 500 client call me this week for what she considered “green promotional products” – and her only parameter was that the items  “not be from a third world sweatshop”.

I would argue that that definition of “green promotional products” is a bit too broad (and I did help her narrow down her new guidelines).

I would also make the case to embrace other promotional items that might not strike you immediately as green friendly.

Keeping in mind the 3R’s: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle– I would suggest that any promotional product that fits at least one of those criteria should be considered a green promotional product.

What is your definition of “green promotional products”?

I’d love to hear it.

Let’s all do our part to increase our green marketing and promote a cleaner environment.
