Honor Veteran’s Day- Develop More Alternative Energy
This Veteran’s Day, as we hear the media talk of “honoring our troops” and “remembering how veterans have died for our freedom”, now is the time to reflect on one of the most patriotic ways to pay our respect to our veterans– and that is to remove our troops from the Middle East and stop fighting petro wars.
Now is the time to push through more alternative energy sources and find and fund ways to avoid our dependence on foreign oil.
Over 23 million veterans are still alive in this country – and the majority of those under 45 have spent time in the Middle East. What can be more patriotic than developing clean energy solutions and stopping our funding of Middle East terrorists?
I was at a conference the other day (Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association) which focused on solar, wind, biomass, geothermal and hydrokinetic energy. It was an excellent show which put together manufacturers, financial, sales and service organizations under one roof to encurage partnerships and discussions.
I came away from this 2-day event with a greater understanding that America is not at the forefront of alternative energy, and trails many European countries, Asian countries and even South American countries in the energy sources of the future. Hopefully every state will offer a similar association and government from both parties will see that America’s best interest is in these alternative energy sources.
As I take a moment to honor our troops, I will hope that we can honor them in the future with a real “Mission Accomplished” banner that reads “Energy Independence”. That will save soldiers lives and strengthen our economy. I can’t see which political party can be opposed to either one of these ideas.
PS Thank you to those who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces.
